Emergency preparedness still practiced by some

I have been here for 32 years and I have seen plenty of different situations as they apply to emergency preparedness. On Oct. 20, during my morning class, we had an earthquake drill. The students were instructed to get under the tables and hold on. Once that all was clear, I gave the "all clear".

I realize that as a college we should have done something but to single out Safety Committee Chairperson Mariles Magalong and Police Services Lt. Jose Oliveira (Advocate, Oct. 26) isn't all fair because they are the ones who trained us years ago on earthquake preparedness here on campus and I continue to have training and drills all the time. With budget cuts we will, and should, look to find solutions not fault.

So someone did have a drill on the Great California Shake Out at Contra Costa College.
